When you clone a NetBackup Media server there are a few important files that need to be edited.

ON THE MEDIA SERVER

Make sure that you have in your path /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/usr/openv/volmgr/bin and /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd

Verify that NetBackup is resolving your hostname by using getent hostname ..

bpclntcmd –self

Verify network connectivity over port 13782 and 1556

telnet new media server 13782

Edit /usr/openv/netbackup/bp.conf

Make sure the first of the list of server is the masterserver and the seconded is new media server.

Change CLIENT_NAME = new media server

Edit /usr/openv/volmgr/vm.conf

MM_SERVER_NAME = new media server

Verify network connectivity over port 13782 and 1556

ON THE MASTER

Add to /usr/openv/netbackup/bp.conf
SERVER = new media server

Restart NetBackup services.

Register the new Media server.

nbemmcmd -addhost -machinename hostname -machinetype media -masterserver server_name -operatingsystem os_type -netbackupversion level.major_level.minor_level
